Keeping Score
(All cat show scores are listed on our Show Results Page.)
As soon as your pure bred cat reaches the age of 8 months (adult) it is now eligible to receive titles. Our Canadian Cat Association offers the following titles:
Initially, each adult pure bred cat (8 months & older) begin their show career as an "Open" and are entered as such.
To achieve Championship status, your cat must receive 4 "Purple" ribbons from 4 judge's rings. (Championship Claim Form. pdf format.)
NOW THE FUN BEGINS!
Now that the title of "Champion" has been achieved, eligible Champions entered in the Championship classes shall compete against each other for their individual "Grand Championship" points. (note: ** If you wish to keep score at each show, it is very important to listen for & write down the "show count" announced on each show day. Show count is also listed on the CCA Show Results web page.)
Champions competing against each other will receive points in breed division by receiving 1 point for every Champion beaten in it's breed, excluding itself. For example: if there are 5 Abyssinian competing in their breed division, then points are awarded in the following manner:
-
"Best of Breed" Aby Ch. will receive 4 points;
-
2nd Best of Breed Aby Ch. will receive 3 points;
-
3rd Best of Breed Aby Ch. will receive 2 points;
-
And the 4th Best of Breed Aby Ch. will receive 1 point.
All points in the Breed Division are ZEROED if any cats are finalled in a top 10 All Breed ring or a top 10 or top 5 Specialty ring.
THE FINAL RING
The judge will award a FINAL position and rosette to the cats, kittens, and alters he feels are the best. The rosettes will designate placings from Best through to 10th Best, unless the number of entries in a class is less then fifteen - then only five awards are given and the points are counted.
KEEPING SCORE IN AN ALLBREED RING In an Allbreed Ring any breed division points received from that judge will be taken away and replaced with the points awarded in the FINAL ring.
Champions competing against each other in the FINAL ring will receive points calculated from taking the total number of ALL the Champions in show, (both long & short hair) excluding itself and that will become the number of points for the Best Allbreed Champion.
KEEPING SCORE IN AN SPECIALTY RING In a Specialty Ring as in an Allbreed Ring, when it comes to the final awards they only compete against cats with the same hair length designation (Longhair or Shorthair). The judge will award a final position and rosette to the cats, kittens, and alters that they feel are the best in the Longhair division AND the Shorthair division. The rosettes will designate the placings from Best through to 10th Best, unless the number of entries in a class is less then fifteen - then only five awards are given.
As in an Allbreed Ring any breed division points received from that judge will be taken away and replaced with the points awarded in the Specialty FINAL ring. Champions competing against each other in the FINAL ring will receive points calculated from taking either the total number of Shorthair Champions or the total number of Longhair Champions, depending on which breed division they are competing in.

In computing Grand Championship points, no champion shall be credited with more than one point for any defeated Champion in any one ring. Therefore, if the point count is greater, Breed Grand points may be used rather than points from the final in that ring. In order to become a Grand Champion your cat must achieve one hundred and fifty (150) points. Please refer to Point Count for Titles to view point count needed to achieve Double Grand Champion, Master Grand Champion & Supreme Master Grand Champion titles.
The preceding requirements also apply to the Premiership Classes, with the number of points for a Grand Premiership being seventy-five (75).
All points must be won under at least three (3) different Judges and one win must be within the Top Five in a show.
