Exotic

The Exotic Shorthair is a man-made breed, that was developed in the 1960s from breedings between Persians and American Shorthairs.  It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cat breeds to those who prefer the cobby type of body.

It can best be described as a shorthaired Persian, though it is not as short-coated as other shorthaired breeds.  The coat should be plush, soft in texture and full of life.  It should stand out from the body due to its density, not be flat or close-lying.

The Exotic has a short cobby body with short heavy-boned legs. The round, broad head has plump cheeks, a short nose with a distinct break, large expressive eyes and low-set ears.

The dense, non-tangling, intermediate-length coat makes the Exotic easy to groom.  This breed comes in a wide range of colours and patterns; with the eye colour conforming to the coat colour.

Sometimes referred to as "a Persian in its underwear", the Exotic has a sweet natured, quiet, personality.  They are delightful lap-sitter; at ease in small quarters and appreciative of home and family.

(This breed is found both in the Longhair and Shorthair versions.)
