The Ragdoll is a large, heavy boned cat, with a full chest. Males weigh in the neighbourhood of 15 to 20 pounds. They are graced with large, oval, blue eyes, and medium-sized ears which are set high on a modified, wedge shaped head. The nose is twice as long as it is wide, with a gentle break.

The coat texture is thick, soft and silky, longest around the neck, short on the face and increasing in length from the head down through the shoulder blades and back.

Originally, Ragdolls were only accepted in seal, blue, chocolate and lilac point in three divisions: bi-colour, colourpoint or mitted. Recently the Canadian Cat Association voted to include lynx, flame, tortie and their related colours in the colour standard.

Quiet, gentle and affectionate, these people-loving cats are called the Ragdoll because when picked up they tend to become limp - just like a rag doll!
